Becoming a fitness trainer

My journey into personal training

I started my journey into the health and fitness landscape in 1995 while coaching for the Morro Bay High School football team. That opportunity opened a door to a certification with ISSA, and I began working at a few private gyms in SLO county. In 2001 I started a 16 year journey with 24 Hour Fitness as a Fitness Manager/Master Trainer achieving over 25,000 hours of sessions served. During that time I achieved several certifications with NASM and really focused on corrective postural exercises and stretches. The base of a great workout program is all the things we want to achieve in a fitness transformation; healthy lifestyle, increasing wellness, disease prevention, establishing a proper nutritional meal plan, losing body fat, increasing lean muscle, avoiding injury, and feeling better.

I seized a chance to open my own business in 2016, in Pasadena, Ca, to truly help the people I worked with to assist them in realizing their goals without the constraints of “company goals”. What I do is not a job, it’s the combination of belief, practice and sheer joy of fitness. I really enjoy seeing clients accomplishing goals that they’ve set, such as increasing cardiovascular capabilities, range of motion, flexibility, stability/balance, and core strength. I work with general and special populations, ages 10 thru 80, with the biggest age group is between 40 and 65 years old. All of us are trying to improve our fitness level and especially trying to maintain or change body composition. I can keep you on track with your fitness transformations, increasing muscular strength, upping your cardio capabilities, managing healthy meal plans, and helping you get those goals accomplished!
