Senior Fitness
For older adults, a regular physical fitness program is very important to help maintain a healthy lifestyle. It’s possible that it could help prevent, and slow down many health issues regarding the aging process. Being stronger, more flexible and improving stability will catapult a senior fitness program to another level!
A major benefit for older adults would be learning how to help muscles to grow stronger in assisting day to day activities and avoiding dependency on others. Please know that a small amount of exercise and physical activity is much better than nothing at all, for our elderly populations, and there will be some added health benefits.
Adults who are 65 and older can greatly improve longevity with a routine of moderate to vigorous aerobic activity, muscle strengthening activities, and improving balance. These factors will elevate cardiovascular functions, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and possibly reduce body composition.
Senior health benefits
Some of the other benefits of an exercise program for senior fitness are:
-Improving mood and avoiding depression
-Having more energy
-Boosting cognitive functions (increasing brain capabilities)
-Cardiorespiratory endurance
-Reducing effects of Sarcopenia (gradual loss of muscle mass, strength and functional abilities)
